The schismatics experimented with various methods of warfare involving channeling power through a summoner’s heart. Tho agreed to become this “weapon,” in one engagement bringing down a bastion but sacrificing his life in the process. His bravery earned him respect enough to be resurrected via a modified necromantic ritual that replaced his heart with an alchemical apparatus. The ressurrection was only partially successful, stranding him in a liminal state between life and death, with his soul trapped in a body sustained by mercury.
